The Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine

The Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine has 180 employees, of which 29 are specialists and 8 are physicians in training.

Sixteen of our employees are also PhD's and we have a high research activity. Four employees are registered for PhD training and research is also carried out by paramedical personnel.

We also offer training courses for physicians, nurses and others.

In addition we have a special activity - the Dysmely and armprosthesis unit, that cares for children and adults with arm dysmely and children with lower limb dysmely.

via our day clinic we carry out about 200 endoscopies (gastro-, colo- and recto-sigmoidoscopies) every year.

Ward 26

Ward 26 is the departments large ward (including emergency cases) with 24 beds, where about 80 % of all patients are admitted.

We work intensively with in-services, quality projects and activities to stregthen our professional rolls in order to retain and develop the high existing competence, medically, technically and in nursing.

Neonatology, ward 35

Ward 35 has 17 beds  five of which, are for intensive care. Practical nurses, Nurses with special training in pediatrics or intensive care, physicians and secretaries work in this department. Six physicians are specialists in neonatology.

All premature babies, as well as babies with diseases that require treatment  are cared for in ward 35. We manage premature babies from week 23 - 24.

Comprehesive neonatal research includes infections in new borns, diabetes and pregnancy and pain. The department has received funds from the hospital to carry out the projects: " Togetherness and Kangaroo care" and "Coordinated programs for neonatal conditions".

We also carry out CEPS-training and team resucitation of newborn children.
